Axis

Brand identity and UI/UX design for a concept platform built for emerging designers.

About

Axis is a concept platform built around a simple idea: designers need a place to orbit. The brand takes its cues from space, with a visual language of astronauts, planets, shuttles, and the science of the cosmos, reflecting the platform's tagline, "Where Designers Revolve." Just as planets revolve around an axis, the platform positions itself as the central point that designers return to for growth, collaboration, and community.

The platform addresses a real gap. Emerging designers often face a steep learning curve alone, losing work, misreading briefs, and working in silos. Axis was built to fix that, bringing together a curated knowledge-sharing forum and a real-time collaborative workspace in one place.

Overview

This was a solo university project, handled end to end. I started with research into UI/UX patterns and user needs for early-career designers, which shaped both the platform's structure and its interface design. From there, I built out a full brand identity system, covering typography, colour, and component guidelines. The space theme runs through every touchpoint, giving Axis a visual language that feels deliberate rather than decorative.

The interface design focused on two core features: a forum for exchanging knowledge and a shared canvas for real-time collaboration with cloud storage. Both were designed to reduce friction, whether that's losing a file mid-project or a revision loop that goes nowhere.

To bring the platform to life, I created a motion graphic sequence as a storytelling intro, walking users through how Axis works and what it's for. It was a chance to let the brand do the explaining.

Axis was recognised at our graduation showcase, judged by industry leaders, picking up an award among the cohort's work.
