Print layout and cover artwork for two formal military publications.
About
Two print brochures designed during National Service, one for SAF Day 2019 and one for a Commanding Officer's Change of Command Parade in 2020. Both were formal military publications, produced for senior officers, commanders, and guests, where the design had to carry the weight of the occasion.
Overview
Both projects were solo, with the SAF as client for the SAF Day brochure and my unit commanders as the direct client for the COC Parade piece.
The work covered cover artwork, layout design, content organisation, and colour direction for each brochure. Getting the tone right mattered as much as the visual execution. These weren't commercial pieces, they were ceremonial, so every layout decision had to feel considered and appropriate for the setting.
The COC Parade brochure had a clear narrative to carry: introducing the incoming commanding officer, presenting her vision for the unit, and acknowledging the contributions of the outgoing commander. Structuring that story within a print layout, while keeping it visually clean and formal, was the core design challenge.
Both brochures were well-received by the commanders and guests at their respective events.
