FRAMED
Editorial layout and digital publication design for an interactive photography magazine.
About
FRAMED is a digital magazine concept built for aspiring photographers. The name comes directly from the craft, framing as a compositional rule, using the edges of a shot to direct attention and add context. It's a fitting masthead for a publication built around guides, tutorials, tips, and feature articles for people learning to see through a lens.
Overview
This was a solo final year project for a Content Design specialisation in Mass Communication, covering the magazine end to end. The work spanned the cover, interior layouts, and editorial spreads, designing a full reading experience as an epub publication.
The cover was built using photo manipulation and animation in Adobe Photoshop, giving the inaugural issue a strong visual entry point that set the tone for what was inside. The interior design carried that sensibility through, with layouts considered for how a reader moves through editorial content digitally, balancing typography, imagery, and white space across every spread.
For a subject like photography, the design had to hold its own against the images it was presenting. Getting that balance right across a full publication was the core challenge.
