NUS O'Week Now!

Visual identity, merchandise, and print design for a university orientation event.

About

NUS O'Week Now! is the National University of Singapore's annual orientation event, bringing together incoming students across 12 houses. The 2022 edition ran under the theme "Kaleidoscope," a brief that called for bold, distinct visuals while keeping everything tied to a single cohesive identity.

Overview

This was a solo freelance project covering the full visual scope of the event. The work split across two tracks: the official O'Week merchandise and the 12 individual house shirt designs.

For the main identity, I designed the event's primary visual, carried across the official O'Week T-shirt, socks, lanyard, and programme booklet layout. The challenge was creating something that felt energetic and celebratory without losing clarity across different formats and print applications.

The house shirts were a different kind of problem. Each of the 12 houses came with their own inspiration and ideation, and my role was to translate that into finished artwork. Twelve designs, each unique, each needing to stand on its own while still sitting within the broader Kaleidoscope theme. Keeping that balance across the full set, distinct enough to feel personal to each house, cohesive enough to read as part of the same event, was where most of the design thinking lived.
